Director of Medicare & Risk Management
Mark Brownstein is the Director of Medicare & Risk Management. He is a trusted independent and dedicated provider of comprehensive and competitive Medicare solutions. Mark has extensive experience working with individuals, CPA’s, tax professionals and Financial Planners to implement Medicare solutions to meet clients’ changing needs. He has received industry recognition as a highly energetic leader who is both committed to the highest fiduciary standards and to service quality. Mark has provided Medicare solutions for over 500 clients and conducted educational workshops for over 2,000 clients, advisors and CPA’s.
He provides solutions in NY, NJ, CT, and FL. Mark is also a CSA (Certified Senior Advisor). As an elder advocate, he helps improve many facets of senior’s and their adult children’s lives by delivering practical strategies and solutions to help them better deal with the challenges of eldercare.
Mark’s passion is working with seniors by providing insight and educating them a topic that has value and is valued. His career moves has taken him through this rewarding journey where Medicare is his way to give back and help others every day.

Personal Background: Mark is very involved in his community and is an active board member on various local organizations. He conducts many area workshops and public speaking events providing unbiased information and resources to the attendees and their families. He enjoys playing tennis, swimming and spending time with family. Mark was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, worked and travel out West for 12 years and has been a Rockland resident for over 25 years. He is a graduate of SUNY Binghamton School of Management. Mark lives in Nyack, NY with his wife and son.
Insurance Services Coordinator
Michele Horton is our Insurance Services Coordinator and Executive Assistant to Mark Brownstein. She works with Mark to prepare for presentations, workshops and exhibitions. In addition, she also manages scheduling for the business calendar, accounting, marketing and assists with client paperwork for all of Emerald’s insurance clients. Michele believes a bright attitude, positive outlook, compassion and understanding is what makes our client service so unique and special. It is her number one priority every day!
Michele comes to us with over 20 years of administrative and accounting background. She also has over 7 years experience in Medical Billing and has recently completed her Certified Professional Coder exam. She is skilled at working with doctors and seniors with their Medicare billing issues.
Personal Background: Michele is proudly an active member of the Stony Point Elementary School PTA previously as Treasurer and now as President. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, local history and cooking. She currently resides in Tomkins Cove with her husband and two children.
Siana Vazquez joined our team in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant and is now our Office Manager.
She plays myriad and multifaceted roles within the office, helping the team to operate more effectively.

I enjoy applying my unique background and fresh perspective, as well as offering technical and media support so that our small business can reach it’s potential.”
Siana attended Dutchess Community College and received her Associate’s Degree in Mental Health. She subsequently pursued a long-held interest assisting adults with mental disabilities. More recently, her aptitude for higher level problem solving, process management, and a family history in personal financial planning has led her to us, and we are pleased to have her as one of the newest members of the team.
Personal Background: Siana lives in Orange County with her husband, Robert and their two cats, Penne and Layla. She runs a social group called Peaceful Minds Play, exploring the Hudson Valley region and all that it has to offer. She also is involved in a mentoring program where she guides her mentorees on their journey to a minimalist lifestyle.
Office Manager & Executive Assistant
Lisa Scolaro joined our team in 2014 as Office Manager and is now our Executive Assistant.
She comes to us with over twenty years of experience within the financial services industry. Her primary responsibilities include managing the President’s schedule, daily organizational support and ensuring consistent delivery of services to our clients. Lisa’s supporting role contributes to the efficiency of the business and we appreciate her many skills and ongoing assistance.
Lisa graduated from the State University of New York at Albany. Prior to her position here, she was a Relationship Manager for twelve years at Computershare, Inc. (formerly BNY Mellon Shareowner Services). She received the BNY Mellon Spotlight on Success Award for recognition of leadership, innovation, and collaborative efforts.
Lisa believes that being flexible, focused and detail oriented leads to a superior client experience. She develops and sustains a level of professionalism among staff and clientele. Lisa is committed to helping Emerald continue to build its reputation in the community.
Personal Background: Lisa plays a very active role within the community as a Girl Scout troop leader, as an active volunteer at St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish and with her children’s school. She currently lives in North Rockland with her husband Chris and three daughters. Lisa enjoys watching her family play basketball and softball throughout the year!
